Keeping a Classy Face – Mascara Edition and Giveaway

As promised, the next edition of Keeping a Classy Face is all about mascara. As a Sephora VIB I get über samples through promotions and codes, many of which are deluxe mascara tubes. In fact, this is how I found my new favorite brand, Benefit’s They’re Real!

The best mascara out there

Brand: Benefit
Name: They’re Real!
Cost: $23 for 0.3 oz

The website says:

WHAT IT IS:
A jet-black mascara that lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts, and separates lashes for a spectacular “out-to-here” look.

WHAT IT DOES:
This breakthrough bestseller reveals lashes you never knew you had! The specially designed brush features staggered bristles that grab close to the root, boosting length and volume beyond belief. The custom-domed tip uses precision bristles to lift, define, and curl even your tiniest lashes. With a glossy, jet-black, long-wearing formula, you’ll flaunt luxurious, silky lashes that won’t smudge, clump, or dry out. True story!

WHAT ELSE YOU NEED TO KNOW:
Go horizontal! The staggered bristles grab close to the root, boosting length and volume. Then go vertical! The custom-domed tip with precision bristles lift, define, and curl even your tiniest lashes.

RESEARCH RESULTS:
In a consumer panel survey, the following results were reported:
– 94% saw dramatic length and volume
– 90% saw base-to-tip curl
– 94% saw visible lift
-100% saw long-wearing results

I say:

I have been using mascara for close to 20 years. Of course I started out using the drugstore brands – Maybelline, Cover Girl, and so on. Even the most expensive drugstore brand was no match for this tube. I absolutely love how it made my lashes look: long, full, and curled without adding a ton of gloppy gunk. My eyelashes look natural. Now I can tell they are lengthened because, sometimes, my lashes will graze the lenses of my sunglasses! Now isn’t that a great feeling? The only negative is how difficult it is to remove. I have to use my cotton balled eye makeup remover twice to really get this off my lashes. But, in my opinion, it’s worth it.

  2. Steps 1 & 2 are complete. I can relate (at least with what I have read so far). Husband, 2 toddlers, 21 year old stepdaughter, 3 dogs, and a cat here. Generally, nothing but chaos around here. 🙂 I have been bugging my stepdaughter about mascara (and other makeup) brands she uses, because I am approaching my 40’s and I want to rock the next decade of my life!

  3. Congrats to Mischa for winning the mascara giveaway! As there were only two entries, I wrote the names on slips of paper, held them behind my back, and had my three year old pick a hand. It was very scientific! Thanks for entering!
